Novak Djokovic has unveiled his newest outfit for the upcoming 2022 Wimbledon Championships, which will kick off later this month.
After Alexander Zverev's withdrawal because of an ankle injury he sustained at the French Open and Daniil Medvedev's inability to play due to a ban imposed on Russian players at the tournament, Djokovic will, fortuitously, be the top seed when he gets the defense of his title underway.
He will be doing so in a new tennis gear assembled by his clothing and footwear sponsors. Djokovic is a proud brand ambassador of Lacoste, which manufactures his match kits.
When it comes to Wimbledon, athletes must adhere to the strict all-white dress code that is usually the norm. So, sponsors don't have many options when it comes to design and colors, but Lacoste did try to bring some sort of uniqueness to the outfit that Djokovic will be wearing in pursuit of the seventh title at the All England Club.
The white outfit features green piping along the seams and a visible green Lacoste logo on the top left of the polo. Djokovic will wear ASICS shoes, which are white but accentuated with a green logo of the company.
Since 2018, no player has toppled Djokovic at Wimbledon, as he has won three straight titles (the 2020 event was canceled). In 2022, a strong field of challengers, headlined by Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nick Kyrgios, and Andy Murray, will try to stop Djokovic's bid for a 21st Grand Slam crown.
Despite dropping to third spot in the latest ATP rankings, Djokovic remains the clear-cut favorite to win the title. He won't be playing any warm-up event before Wimbledon, and this has mostly been part of his preparation.
So, the earliest we will see him in the new outfit is at Wimbledon, when he will have the honor of opening the play on Centre Court.
