Last year, Andrey Rublev defeated Andy Murray in the final of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship and he will be back in Abu Dhabi to defend the title this year.
The Mubadala World Tennis Championship will take place at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi's International Tennis Centre for the fourteenth time. It will be held from December 16 to December 18 this year, and five of the eight participants are already known. Andrey Rublev, who will be defending his title can not miss the event as he will be one of the crucial figures that will appear in the United Arab Emirates.
“Last year’s event was memorable, firstly to see the return of the Championship after the rebound of live events and, secondly, because of the top-class tennis on display. Andrey was a worthy winner so it’s great that we have secured his return alongside the next generation of superstars Carlos, Casper, Ons and Emma. The 14th edition is shaping up to be a very exciting three days of action on and off the court,” said John Lickrish, CEO, Flash Entertainment.
Casper Ruud, who played two Grand Slam finals in 2022 will join last year's champion and the youngest world number 1 in the history of men's tennis at the 2022 Mubadala World Tennis Championship.
“I’m really looking forward to visiting Abu Dhabi for the first time to contest the Mubadala World Tennis Championship,” said Ruud. “It’s been a tournament on my radar for some time and I know that the level of tennis is going to be of the highest quality. I’m excited to be involved and play in front of my fans over there in the UAE.”
