Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Nick Kyrgios will lead a star-studded lineup at the European leg of the 2023 Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Frankfurt.
The trio will also be joined by fellow ATP stars Gael Monfils, Diego Schwartzman, Benoit Paire, and Reilly Opelka during the European edition. Also, one more player is set to be announced shortly to complete the talented lineup for the event.
The European segment of the UTS competition will take place between September 15 and 17 at the Suwag Energie Arena in Frankfurt. It will follow on from the US part of the competition, which takes place in Los Angeles between July 21 and 23, and will come before the following stages in Asia and the Middle East.
The likes of Schwartzman, Monfils and Kyrgios are also going to compete in the year's US segment of the event in LA. Here, the trio will be joined by a host of American ATP players, including Taylor Frtiz and Ben Shelton, whilst other competitors to complete the lineup will include Wu Yibing, Frances Tiafoe and Alexander Bublik.
Once all four rounds have been played across the four separate continents, the qualifying players will take part in the final event. The winner of each part of the tour will enter the Grand Final, which will be played between December 8 and 10, although the venue for this stage has not been confirmed yet.
UTS was launched by Serena Williams' former coach Patrick Mouratoglou, who introduced the first edition of the competition in 2020. The playing format is more laid back and interactive compared to the traditional tennis set-up as players are interviewed mid-match, while coaches can provide in-game tips and strategies to players.
Also, players do not play traditional games and sets during the UTS matches. Instead, they compete across four quarters of 8 minutes, where players try to score as many points as possible against their opponent.
