Nick Kyrgios is unstoppable in a recent weeks when he also recorded only his second win against world number 1 in his career.
At the 2014 Wimbledon, Nick Kyrgios defeated Rafael Nadal and got his first win against a player ranked in Top 10 of the ATP Rankings and also his first victory against world number 1. 8 years later, the 27-years-old Australian defeated world no. 1, Daniil Medvedev for his second win over the highest-ranked player.
Both players were super solid on their service games in the first set. That was until the tenth game when the Australian had two set points. Yet, Medvedev didn't fold under pressure and set reached the tie-break.
The Russian prevailed in the tie-break, winning it 7-2 and he hoped to continue in a similar style also in the second set. However, Kyrgios broke his serve in the first game of the second set and the Russian couldn't create and break point chances and so the 2022 Wimbledon finalist won the set 6-4.
Kyrgios continued in a stunning performance also in the third set, despite being the first player to face a break point. Yet, he created more opportunities in the set to eventually win the match 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-2 and set up a third-round clash with the winner of the match between a compatriot Alex de Minaur and the fifteenth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov.
