This week, Emma Raducanu made it to the semifinals for the first time in Seoul, and she was pleased that recent hard work has been paying off.
This year, Raducanu has taken a lot of criticism because of her erratic performances and several physical problems. Fans questioned how hard the Briton is working because her body frequently disappoints and her tennis game suffers as a result. Raducanu is aware of the criticism, but she mostly doesn't seem to care as she concentrates on raising her game to a respectable level.
"I think it is pretty cool to be in my first semifinal and build my way on the tour in the right way. I think it is quite a nice reward for all the hard work I have done on the practice court and a lot of hours. It is a really nice feeling" remarked Emma after retiring down a double break to Ostapenko.
She started off the match pretty well, winning the first set and breaking in the second. She was upset about some sort of glute problem and soon after, her game collapsed from the lack of effective movement. Raducanu made the decision to resume playing following a medical timeout, but he eventually decided to quit.
"I'm happy with the way that I'm building my game back up and progressing. And trying to set myself as best as possible up for next year and also just to improve my game. I think I'm taking on the challenges."
