The 2022 ATP season comes to an end and so it's time to award the best players as athletes and coaches will vote in five different categories.
The awards reward the best newcomer, most improved player, best comeback, sportsmanship as well as the best coach. Due to the nature of the awards, often younger and less-established players are nominated for awards for the best newcomer and most improved players as Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune are the biggest favourites to win these.
Nick Kyrgios, who wasn't nominated for any category, but could be consider for Comeback Player of the Year, if he would be coming back from some injury as he rose by more than 80 spots in the ATP Rankings, funnily reacted to nominations, as he stated:
"Tbh I should be in coach of the year, I coached myself to a Wimbledon final."
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist doesn't have a coach and only a few months ago, when coaching was allowed on the ATP Tour, the Australian shared his thoughts, when he stated: "Completely disagree. Loses one of the only unique traits that no other sport had. The player had to figure out things on his own. That was the beauty of it. What happens if a high profile player versus a low ranked player who doesn’t have or afford a coach?"
