Casper Ruud and Pablo Carreno Busta move up as Daniil Medvedev holds number one

| by Drew Tate

Casper Ruud and Pablo Carreno Busta made moves this Monday following their strong outing at the ATP 1000 event in Montreal.

The Norwegian played well and reached the semifinal which earned him enough points to move up to number 5. That was the only change in the top 10 as Daniil Medvedev is holding number one for another week. It's not a comfortable lead for Medvedev as he has only 1200 points over Nadal who can get the number one spot with a win in Cincinnati.

Medvedev needs the quarterfinal to ensure his stay at number one. Today also marked the first time a world number one has had fewer than 7000 points which demonstrated even further that Medvedev's hold isn't that strong. Pablo Carreno Busta triumphed in Montreal and he moved up nine spots to number 14 which is his highest rank in quite a while.

Dan Evans played in the semifinal and he moved up 16 spots to number 23. Kyrgios moved up 9 spots as well getting to number 28 and finally being inside the top 30 again. Some other players moved the other way with John Isner dropping to number 50 with a chance to fall out of the top 50 for the first time in many years.
