Alcaraz Denies Injury Worries Ahead Of Wimbledon Challenge

| by Alfredo Bassanelli

Carlos Alcaraz denied dealing with any kind of physical problem ahead of Wimbledon exclaiming that he's feeling great.

Despite beating Alex de Minaur comfortably in the Cinch Championships final, Carlos Alcaraz seemed to have a minor issue with his leg in that match. It didn't seem too serious as he finished the match though he did confirm that he dealt with something during the ATP 500 final.

The Spaniard brushed off suggestions that it would impact Wimbledon in any way but he did pull out of the Hurlingham exhibition. It left fans wondering whether the issue was a bit worse than he initially let on as he does have a history of downplaying physical issues that ultimately turn out to be way worse.

Ahead of this year's Wimbledon Alcaraz was questioned about his status and the status of his leg but once again the Spaniard completely downplayed anything. He exclaimed that he was feeling great while also confirming that he felt some pain in Queens.

No, no, I'm feeling great. I work this week to try not to feel the pain that I felt in the final of Queen's. Right now physically I feeling great. I feeling ready to start Wimbledon.

It's pretty clear that Alcaraz, like most players, will downplay any physical issue. We've seen it with Djokovic at Roland Garros who brushed off his elbow issue and ultimately it really didn't bother him.

Perhaps this is something lingering, perhaps it's not, we don't know but it's certainly not severe enough to keep him away from playing. It's Wimbledon after all, it's the most prestigious event in the world and Alcaraz has high hopes for it. It's time to back up bold words on the court though. He did it in Queen's, let's see if he can do it a bit to the south of that in Wimbledon, using his aggressive style.

"Well, I always say that I try to play aggressive all the time. I think my style, it's always to play aggressive. I think that's the most important thing here on grass: to be aggressive, to try to go to the net, trying to hit big shots. I always trying in every surface. I think that suits really well on grass."
