The draw for the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters was released and it promises a week of exciting action at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
The tournament, which will take place from April 7th to 14th, is the first clay-court ATP 1000 event of the year, and while it was won 11 times by Rafael Nadal in the past, it can often also bring surprising results.
This year, the legendary Spaniard won't compete at the event, as he withdrew due to an injury, which is still limiting him, but there will be another Spanish player in the draw who will want to win a trophy.
Carlos Alcaraz will be the third seed at the tournament, for the first time in two years, after he lost the world no. 2 spot to his young rival, Jannik Sinner. Like all the top eight seeds, he has a first-round bye, but in the second round, the 20-year-old will face a difficult challenge.
The two-time Grand Slam champion will start his journey against the winner of the match between Felix Auger-Aliassime and a qualifier, and that can be a brutally difficult match for him.
On top of that, the former world no. 1 is in the same part of the draw with the current world no. 1, Novak Djokovic, who he can meet in the semi-finals. The 24-time major winner can also meet a qualifier in the second round or Roman Safiullin.
The man who made this semi-final match possible, and the player with most wins in 2024, is on the other side of the draw. Jannik Sinner is the second seed, and he will start his tournament against the winner of the match between Sebastian Korda and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is a player who won the Monte-Carlo Masters title twice, but this year, he's only the 12th seed, and as a result, he has to play first-round match against Laslo Djere.
Who doesn't have to play a first-round match is the sixth-seeded Andrey Rublev, who is the defending champion at the tournament. The Russian will play against a qualifier or Alexei Popyrin in the second round of the tournament.
Some of the early first-round blockbusters include matches between Alex de Minaur and Stan Wawrinka, a clash between Hubert Hurkacz and Jack Draper, but also an exciting meeting between Karen Khachanov and Cameron Norrie. To see the full draw, be sure to observe it below.
