One of the classic year-end events will take part again from October 24th until 30th as the 2022 Vienna Open offers a traditionally solid entry list.
Alexander Zverev is the defending champion at the 2022 Vienna Open, however, the tall German won't compete this year as he's out with an injury that caused his season to end early. On the other hand, last year's finalist and this year's US Open semifinalist, Frances Tiafoe will travel to Austria for the ATP 500 event.
Last year's semifinalist and the youngest world number 1 in history of men's tennis, Carlos Alcaraz chose to play the event that's played at the same time in Basel and so he won't appear in Vienna this year. Yet, another last year's semifinalist, Jannik Sinner is on the entry list and he will be one of the favourites to win.
But he will be facing a fierce competition from former world number 1, Daniil Medvedev and likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Cameron Norrie and Andrey Rublev. Hubert Hurkacz, Taylor Fritz and Matteo Berrettini should all also compete at the 2022 Vienna Open as the entry list features only star names.
The 2020 US Open champion, Dominic Thiem used his protected rankings to enter and Karen Khachanov, Borna Coric and Denis Shapovalov will also try to end their season with a positive result.
