A very interesting matchup will be played in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Charleston Open, with Jessica Pegula taking on Victoria Azarenka.
The American has been attending the WTA 500 event in Charleston for years and has done pretty well over the years. The American is in another quarter-final with a chance to go to the semi-final if she defeats Azarenka, who has been a difficult matchup for her.
Pegula's form has been trending upwards lately, which is great to see, but Azarenka has been playing really solid tennis as well. She's quite familiar with the event, and they're pretty great friends off the court, which makes the match even more interesting.
Head-to-head:
This has been a really interesting matchup so far because it's pretty close, and they go back and forth about who wins. The most recent match was played at last year's Australian Open, and Azarenka was able to win that match in two sets.
The one before that was played in 2022 in Guadalajara, and Pegula also comfortably won that in two sets. In total, the Belarusian leads the matchup 3-2.
It's a tricky matchup because Pegula can be streaky. Her best is definitely better than Azarenka at the moment, and she should win in the case, but will she show up with that? It's impossible to say, but I do think Charleston will give her a decent chance to do so.

Prediction:
I'm mostly curious to see how Pegula will return in this match. If she returns really well, then she'll be halfway there to win. I'll pick her to win because I've liked the way she has trended recently.
