Venus Williams & Caroline Wozniacki Awarded Indian Wells Wild Cards

| by Zachary Wimer

The Indian Wells Open is coming up next month, and two veterans, Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams, have been awarded wild card entries into the event.

Venus Williams hasn't played any tennis matches this year, but she will soon change that, as the American has been working hard on a comeback to the sport. She posted more than a few updates on social media, teasing herself on the tennis courts, and a comeback is set for the Sunshine Double.

The first of those events is the Indian Wells Open, and it's now official as she's been awarded a wild card entry into the event. It's going to be the first time since 2019 that Williams will play at the event when she made the quarter-final.

We'll see what the veteran can do this year as her career is slowly getting to an end due to her age, which no one can stop. Another veteran whose career was revived last year is Caroline Wozniacki.

She made a shocking return to tennis during the fall and played a few events. The comeback continued this year, though it hasn't gone that well so far, as the Australian Open proved quite a disappointment.

She hoped to win a couple of matches there but ultimately won only one and lost the other. She lamented the loss after the match because she could have won it, and it's true.

She could have but didn't, so now she will have to prepare well for the Indian Wells Open, one of her next events. It hasn't been the best event for her the last few times she played it.

The Dane made the quarter-final in 2017 but lost in the second round in 2019, which was the last time she played. Both will hope to do well, and the organizers clearly trust them as they gave them wild cards for the WTA 1000 tournament quite early.
