Teenage Prodigy Andreeva Destroys Yet Another Opponent To Reach Brisbane Quarterfinals

Mirra Andreeva stunned the tennis world in 2023, and she keeps stunning it also in 2024, reaching the quarterfinals of the 2024 Brisbane International.

After being one of the newcomers of the 2023 season on the WTA Tour, the 16-year-old entered the 2024 season without knowing what to expect, as it will be her first full season on the Tour, despite still being only 16.

For many, her journey resembles Coco Gauff, and the American is already a Grand Slam Champion, something that Andreeva will certainly achieve in her career too, if her career progression stays the same.

In the first round of the 2024 Brisbane International, a WTA 500 tournament, she bested compatriot Diana Shnaider in three sets, and in the second round, she totally stunned the fourth-seeded Liudmila Samsonova.

In the third round of the tournament, the draw was nice to her, as Arina Rodionova had one of the tournaments of her life, beating Martina Trevisan, and surprising Sofia Kenin in the second round of the event.

However, when the Australian clashed with the Russian teenager, she stood no chance. In the first set of the match, Andreeva won all of her points after the first serve, and she troubled her opponent on the return.

As a result, she created a total of nine break point chances, while not facing any. After converting three of these break points, she comfortably won the opening set 6-1 to establish the lead in the match.

In the second set of the match, the 16-year-old continued in the dominant style, but this time around, she faced one break point when leading 3-1 with one break.

She routinely saved it and broke her opponent once more after that to dominantly win the match 6-1, 6-1 and reach the quarterfinals of the 2024 Brisbane International, where she'll meet fellow teenager Linda Noskova.
