Coco Gauff is playing probably her best tennis in 2022 and the teenager is very close to making her debut in the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings.

The young American played at the 2022 Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose before travelling to Toronto for the WTA 1000 event but she lost already in the quarterfinals of the tournament in San Jose. After beating Anhelina Kalinina and Naomi Osaka, it was the second-seeded Paula Badosa who stopped the teenage sensation.

With victory over the Spanish player, Coco Gauff would have secured her spot in the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings and it would be the first time for her. Now, she needs to look at her opponents as there's still one player left that can spoil the party for the youngster.

Daria Kasatkina was ranked 10th in the world already in 2018 but the Russian is playing really well also this year and after reaching the semifinals at the Roland Garros, she can return to this elite club once again.

But if she wants to jump into the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings, she will need to win the tournament in San Jose. And it will be Paula Badosa who she will face in the semifinals of the tournament. In the final, Shelby Rogers or compatriot Veronika Kudermetova can await Daria Kasatkina.

If the Russian wins in San Jose, she will reach her career-high 9th place in the WTA Rankings and so she has a lot to play for. If she doesn't, Coco Gauff will move into the Top 10 for the first time in her career and Emma Raducanu will reach a new career-high at 9th place.
