Bianca Andreescu experienced an unexpected troubles on the court during her first round match at the 2022 US Open.
The 2019 US Open champion took on Harmony Tan in the first round and eventually won 6-0, 3-6, 6-1. However, before the match started, Bianca Andreescu struggled with her clothing and entered a discussion with the umpire about a possible change.
Asking the umpire to be able change it for something else, she said: "Can this not count as one of my change overs? Because it's not my fault, it's Nike's fault. This dress is so bad. I need to go, this is really bad."
The Canadian eventually changed into a tank top and shorts, and it appears that this will be her winning outfit. It will be fascinating to watch how she enters the court for her match against Beatriz Haddad Maia in the second round.
Andreescu spoke about what happened on the court during her post-match press conference, when she said: "It was just bothering me on some forehands. I just felt like it was kinda coming up a bit. Obviously, the wind didn't help."
"I could have definitely used a different choice of wording. So I apologize to anyone I disrespected. I love Nike and I hope I can be with them until the rest of my life. And I definitely apologize," said Andreescu.
