Gauff breaks into Top 10 of WTA Rankings after reaching US Open QF

Coco Gauff played a very good match against Shuai Zhang to reach her maiden quarterfinals at the US Open.

In 2019, the young American reached the third round and she won only one more match in the next two years when she god through the first round in 2021. Therefore, quarterfinal at the 2022 US Open is the best result that Coco Gauff ever achieved at this Grand Slam tournament and will try to continue in her charge.

In the fourth round, the 18-years-old sensation took on Shuai Zhang who had a good start to the match. However, after being broken, the American got two breaks and soon she led in the set. But her opponent fought back one more time and at one points she was only 2 points away from winning the set.

Yet, Gauff showed her fighting spirit and won the set 7-5 after 58 minutes. In the second set, the Chinese player played even better and had a set point when she led already 5-3 A-40. But this year's Roland Garros finalist used her experience and turned also this set around.

After an hour and 59 minutes, Gauff won 7-5, 7-5 and set up a quarterfinal clash with Caroline Garcia. Moreover, she secured her spot in the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings as now there's no scenario where she would find herself ranked outside of the Top 10 after the tournament.
