Bianca Andreescu showed a lot of promise in recent weeks, before picking up an injury that forced her out of play in Miami.
Madrid was a solid showing for the Canadian and she looked pretty decent in the last few outings she had. It's a goal of hers to return to top form and she's certainly trending in the right direction with her confidence being higher after every match.
Andreescu has clearly defined goals, not just for the rest of the season but also for the rest of her career. She wants to be back in the Top 10 on the WTA Tour, she also wants to challenge for Grand Slams again and also to win it again in the future as she revealed when talking to The Globe and Mail.
It would be nice to get back into the top 10, win another Grand Slam and other tournaments. But I just want to go on the court and have fun, play my best tennis, and give it my all. If I stay in the present moment, not think too far ahead, I know that I can accomplish my ultimate goal – to become world No. 1, and win multiple Grand Slams.
Andreescu is doing really well right now according to coach Lambert who worked for the New Zealand tennis federation when the offer from the Canadian arrived. It wasn't a very hard decision for the experienced coach who explained that she's doing really well right now as the 22-year-old still has time to develop herself into a tremendous player.
Mentally I find her the best I’ve seen since we started working together. She’s been positive and proactive. She had the injury and was struggling with that, but her reaction has been ‘okay, what’s next? What do I need to do to get better’, instead of ‘Oh, my God, why me?’
