Coco Gauff stopped by Amanda Anisimova at 2022 Wimbledon

Amanda Anisimova played a really good match to take down Coco Gauff at Wimbledon securing a spot in the 4th round.

It was a very interesting match and one where Gauff experienced a similar thing to what happened last year at Wimbledon. She entered the match with a lot of confidence and proved better early taking a 3-0 lead. Anisimova took some time to find her rhythm and once she did, she was able to battle back 3-3 even taking a 4-3 lead.

A couple of bad misses made it 4-4 and in the tiebreak, Anisimova threw away quite a big chance. She was up 4-1 but lost it 7-4. It was just not good enough from Anisimova who totalled 26 unforced errors in that set. She needed to improve that and she did moving forward. The score of 6-2 6-1 in the next two sets shows just how much better Anisimova was.

She dominated rallies from the backline forcing Gauff into defending and she was not able to handle the pressure. She still finished with more errors than winners but that aggressive nature worked in the end as Gauff was not able to handle it. She did not offer anything from an attacking standpoint either and Anisimova largely cruised.
