The 2024 Canadian Open will run from August 6th to 12th, and the prize money for the women's tournament has been revealed.

This WTA 1000 tournament, also known as the National Bank Open, will welcome a host of top stars in Toronto to compete in the first premier event of the North American summer hard-court swing.

The draw for the 55th edition of the Canadian Open women's tournament was recently released. As expected, the World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has withdrawn, but that doesn't diminish the star power in the field.

Coco Gauff has been named the top seed and will want to overcome the quarterfinal barrier in Canada. She has lost at this stage thrice and can make up for lost points in Washington because of her participation in the Olympics.

Last year, Jessica Pegula won her second WTA 1000-level title in a tournament largely affected by persistent rain. It's been 24 years since we witnessed a successful title defense of the Canadian Open (Martina Hingis was the last to do it), so the 30-year-old American will need to defy the odds.

Aryna Sabalenka has recovered to play and was in action this week in Washington, where he lost in the semifinal for the Citi Open, but Elena Rybakina will not compete in Canada because of health issues.

Jelena Ostapenko (fourth) will move higher up the seeding list following a handful of Top 10 withdrawals, which also include China's first-time gold medalist in tennis at the Olympic Games, Qinwen Zheng.

Liudmila Samsonvoa was impressed in her second appearance (both in Montreal) at the Canadian Open, reaching the final last year but was exhausted.

The Russian is playing in Toronto for the first time. Home hopes will rest with Bianca Andreescu after the 24-year-old received a main draw wild card. She is a former champion.

This year, the total prize money for the Canadian Open women's edition is $3,211,715, an estimated 15.2% increase from 12 months ago. It will be the highest payout in the tournament's history and aligns with the organizers' ambitions to provide the best monetary returns to the players.
