The Korea Open in Soul will be held from September 19 to September 25 in 2022 after missing the prior two seasons' WTA Tour schedule.
Karolina Muchova, who won the Korea Open in 2019, is the most recent champion; prior winners include Agnieszka Radwanska, Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams, and Maria Sharapova. The only past champion in the draw is the first-seeded Jelena Ostapenko.
In the first round of the 2022 Korea Open in Seoul, the Latvian will meet home player, Boyoung Jeong as she should easily advance into the second round. But the event features many more interesting names than the 2017 Roland Garros champion. The 2021 US Open winner, Emma Raducanu is the sixth-seeded and she will begin against Moyuka Uchijima.
2014 Wimbledon finalist, Eugenie Bouchard will also play at the 2022 Korea Open and she will start against the sixth-seeded Tatjana Maria, who played Wimbledon semifinals this year. 17-years-old Linda Fruhvirtova, who just won her first WTA title is also in the draw of WTA event in Seoul and she will kick-off her campaign against experienced Yanina Wickmayer.
