WATCH: 'Thank You Very Much': Wawrinka Hilariously Steals Cup During Interview

| by Sebastian Dahlman

Stan Wawrinka was in high spirits after his win at the Cincinnati Masters, stealing the show with his post-match interview on the Tennis Channel.

Stan Wawrinka endured a few tough seasons on the ATP Tour in recent years as he dealt with several injuries and surgeries. It's why you'll rarely catch him without a bright smile this year, as he's simply enjoying life right now. Being on a tennis court and playing the sport he loves is fantastic for him, and it's been going well.

He recently made a final in Umag, where he won his maiden trophy many years ago. Unfortunately, it was a losing effort but a very emotional moment for Wawrinka as it was a full-circle moment. What's interesting about that maiden final many years ago was that it foreshadowed what we'll see about a decade later.

Wawrinka took on Djokovic in that final and ended up with the trophy, just like his US Open and Roland Garros finals against the Serbian went. Wawrinka is still kicking around and winning matches almost a decade after those.

He bested native player Brandon Nakashima in Cincinnati, after the rain stopped play the day before. It was 5-2 in the final set for the Swiss veteran, so it was a relatively quick return. As it's customary, the player went to the Tennis Channel panel for a chat.

As the host, Prakash Amritraj, pointed out, Wawrinka traditionally took the cup when it finished prompting a hilarious interaction between himself and the host. They had a hilarious exchange which you can see below in the attached video. Next up is a huge challenge for the veteran as he'll face Frances Tiafoe.

Amritraj: "So you're going to steal one again?"

Wawrinka: Stan: "Of course. Thank you very much. I'm not stealing. You give it me.

Amritaj: For you absolutely!
