Clashing with crowds isn't anything new for Novak Djokovic, and one of those exchanges happened also during the 2023 Wimbledon final.
Playing against Carlos Alcaraz, who was probably the only man that could stop the 36-year-old Serb, and many backed him to do that despite Djokovic winning the last four Wimbledon titles in the men's competition.
The two highest-ranked players on the ATP Tour clashed for the third time in their careers, and they fought not just for the trophy but also for the World No. 1 spot. The stakes were high and the history was on the line.
After winning the first set in a dominant fashion, 6-1, Djokovic lost the second set in a tie-break, and then also lost the third set 1-6 as he was only one set from ending his dream of completing a Calendar Grand Slam in 2023.
But Djokovic refused to give up, and once again, also some fans that were rooting against him helped him with that. It was in the match against Jannik Sinner, when the Serb mimicked a fan crying, and now he sent another message to one of the fans.
After being close to being a break down also in the fourth set, the 23-time Grand Slam champion finally broke Alcaraz's serve in the fifth game of the fourth set, and after that, he took a moment to address one of the fans.
Following the successful break of serve, Djokovic sent one of the fans a kiss, showing that he was the last one to laugh in their exchange. However, if the Serb really wants to get the last laugh, he will need to battle against the 20-year-old, needing to win in five sets to get the victory. Then, we may see another massive celebration from him, and possibly more kisses for the fans.
