Stefanos Tsitsipas went back-to-back at the Monte-Carlo Masters in the past two years and he'd like to win the event again.
There is something about Monaco that makes the Tsitsipas family go bonkers and it started a long time ago. The mother of Stefanos Tsitsipas was a tennis player and she won here many years ago, later becoming a two-time winner as well.
Stefanos won last year and the year before this year giving him a chance to do it again, especially because of many high-profile withdrawals from the tournament, including the likes of Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
It is a pleasure to return to the clay-court swing. It is one of the most fascinating parts of the year, starting the clay-court swing in Monte-Carlo, which is my favourite place in the world.
Tsitsipas has called Monte Carlo home for a while living in the principality for a few years now. His primary practice base is the Mouratoglou Academy which is located not too far from there and it's simply an environment that suits him both tennis-wise and lifestyle-wise.
He predicted in a recent video by the ATP that he'll win the event again and he confirmed that once more quite confidently.
I am looking to make it three [titles]. But I won’t take too much time thinking of it. I am feeling refreshed that we are able to start playing on clay again.
The elbow injury is behind him as well and now it's about backing up his words on a tennis court. There is very little doubt in his voice when talking about it though so that's a really good start for him.
I am enjoying the fact that I have won this event twice. I feel good playing here, I feel good in front of my fans. The Monegasque people have showed their love and support and the Italian and French fans. Also the Greek community. They are here and I know most of them.
