Ruud admits he had to sacrifice off-season because of exhibition tour with Nadal

Casper Ruud had almost a non-existing off-season in 2022 as he played a series of matches and he will soon fly to Australia.

The Norwegian accepted to join Rafael Nadal on his exhibition tour in South America, and a few days after that, he also played at the 2022 Mubadala World Tennis Championship. Ruud finished third after defeating Carlos Alcaraz, but he knows how costly the non-existing off-season can be.

"When I accepted to do the exhibition matches with Rafael Nadal, we decided to just keep going and then stop and work on my tennis after the Australian Open," Casper Ruud said in Abu Dhabi earlier this week.

Speaking more about his tennis that generated a lot of success in 2022 as he reached two Grand Slam finals and finished as world no. 3, the Norwegian said:

"My tennis isn't the most powerful, flashy or beautiful, but my goal is to stay consistent and solid. One of my role models is Roberto Bautista Agut. He showed me that if you are solid throughout the year good things can happen," he said.
