Formula One is in Barcelona this week, and Roger Federer decided to stop by to visit the Mercedes F1 Team and their drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
Many tennis players have a good relationship with motorsport, and Formula One in particular. Daniil Medvedev is one of the biggest fans on the ATP Tour, and Hubert Hurkacz would add his name to the list too.
Among women, Emma Raducanu is one of the fans, and Serena Williams attended multiple races in the past, as she and her sister, Venus, are good friends with Mercedes' driver Hamilton.
Now it was Federer's turn as the Swiss Maestro traveled to Barcelona to spend some time with the Mercedes team, and both of their drivers, the seven-time World Champion, Hamilton, and the rising star, Russell.
The team's Instagram page posted a photo of Federer spending time with their drivers, Hamilton and Russell. The Swiss player himself posted a photo of himself watching the team's practices together with Team Principal Toto Wolff. Federer jokingly captioned the photo.
"I had a need for speed."
In the first four races of the season, before moving to Spain for the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix, Mercedes drivers managed to get one podium finish each, and it's clear that they will attempt to do the same at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
They will certainly have good position in the race to attempt to achieve a good result, even though none of them placed in the Top 3 in the qualifying, as that was occupied by Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, and Carlos Sainz.
But right after the Top 3, Russell placed his Mercedes to start from the second row, and Hamilton will start from the third row, as he qualified sixth. It's not clear whether Federer will also watch the race, but he seemed to have enjoyed his stay in the paddock.
