Jannik Sinner opened up about how he celebrates his wins following the 2024 Cincinnati Open triumph, admitting he doesn't drink alcohol.
The Italian player was able to add to his ever-growing collection of titles by winning the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. In the final, he overcame Frances Tiafoe to become the champion in Ohio.
A similar run could be seen on the women's side, as Aryna Sabalenka steamrolled past all of her opponents at the WTA 1000 tournament, beating Jessica Pegula in the final.
Following her victory, the Belarusian player spoke to Prakash Amritraj at the Tennis Channel desk in Cincinnati, and one of the questions asked was about how will she celebrate her win.
While her rival, Iga Swiatek, who she also beat during the week in Cincinnati, loves to treat herself with tiramisu, Sabalenka admitted that she is 'getting old' and doesn't like sweets anymore, preferring to choose alcohol instead.
In particular, the World No. 2 player named tequila and margarita as her go-to drinks, saying that with a little bit of sweetness, she satisfies all of her cravings.
"You know, I'm getting old. There is no more sweets. There is tequila. You got to try margarita. That's, that's the best drink. You have to drink margarita. Really great one and it’s not that heavy. And it’s a little bit of sweetness so it’s kind of like I’m covering both. So I think that’s my treat after the win."
After Sabalenka's answer, it was not surprising that Sinner was asked the same question. However, the World No. 1 player on the ATP Tour had exactly the opposite answer compared to his fellow Cincinnati Open champion.
Sinner admitted that he is not a guy who drinks alcohol, opting to go for some sweets instead, especially when he enjoys it in great company.
"I don’t know yet. Look, I haven’t thought about this – it’s going to be, for sure, a little treat but let’s see. I… I like sweets, so you know, for me that. I am not a guy who drinks."
"I am more happy when I have a Coke or something easy. But I enjoy it more just to have a good company – that for me is much more important than the rest."
During the tournament, he had a chance to show his love for sweets, when he received a carrot cake to celebrate his 23rd birthday. However, he later revealed that he didn't eat the cake, as he prefers one with cream and fruit, or chocolate.
"I didn’t actually (eat the cake). I was very happy to share this cake with all the people. I like carrot cake but it’s not like crazy – it’s not like my favorite cake. I like more when it’s cream and fruit or even chocolate and cream – that’s my cake. But it’s alright. It suits me very well, the carrot cake. So I just can’t complain."
