Nick Kyrgios may still be injured but he will keep his voice involved in the sport with a new podcast.
Kyrgios has only played one match in the last 12 months. That was a failed comeback attempt in Stuttgart to be fit for Wimbledon. But he now has two ways that he will have his voice heard in the coming weeks.
It was announced recently that Kyrgios will work as a pundit at the Australian Open. This follows his stint with the Tennis Channel towards the end of last season, where he provided analysis of the ATP Finals.
There is one particularly interesting aspect to the Eurosport announcement: Kyrgios will be reunited with Boris Becker, who also signed for the broadcaster. This is after Becker and Kyrgios exchanged heated words on social media a few weeks ago.
Now, Kyrgios will also start a podcast in collaboration with Hana Kuma, the production company co-founded by Naomi Osaka and her agent Stuart Duguld. The podcast is called Good Trouble, and some blockbuster guests have already been confirmed.
Kyrgios will interview 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic on the podcast. This will be a live episode, filmed directly at Rod Laver Arena. Undoubtedly, it will generate much attention. Kyrgios used to have issues with Djokovic, but the two now have a good relationship.
Djokovic is not the only big guest: Naomi Osaka, Frances Tiafoe, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, and famous boxer Mike Tyson are other confirmed guests. It shows that the podcast will not just be about tennis.
Kyrgios will also chat with other players doing open practice sessions at Rod Laver Arena, but the specific players are yet to be confirmed.
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist is a polarizing figure in tennis. However, he certainly generates attention, and his podcast and punditry work will continue to do that.
