Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios didn't have any sort of relationship a few years ago, but nowadays, they're good friends.
Kyrgios and Djokovic were mostly neutral for much of their careers, until the COVID-19 pandemic. The Australian is a very outspoken person who doesn't shy away from using social media platforms to share his views and that's what he did.
During the pandemic, Djokovic organized the ill-fated Adria Tour, which aimed to give fans to see some tennis while it was not being played. It turned out to be a disaster, with multiple players catching the virus, and Kyrgios spoke his mind about it. As you can imagine, he was no fan of it.
That's how the rocky relationship started, but then it got saved due to Kyrgios' same impulse to speak his mind. As the whole world was bashing the Serbian during the Australian Open saga, the Australian, one of the few ones who did, spoke up for him. It didn't go unnoticed as Djokovic thanked him.
Since then, the relationship kind of evolved and culminated with the Wimbledon final they played two years ago. The relationship was now a friendship and a pretty good one according to Kyrgios, who spoke about it to Eurosport.
"We had a rocky relationship at the start and a couple of things changed and now we literally speak nearly everyday. We just talk about anything, we send memes to each other."
The Eurosport panel was quite surprised by what Kyrgios was saying asking him to give an example. He shared what a typical interaction between them looks like.
"Yeah, he hit an unbelievable volley the other day and I was like where do you even get these hands from. You didn't have it against me at Wimbledon, and he was like I got it from you. "
