There's no doubt about the fact that Nick Kyrgios is one of the best players on the ATP Tour and in 2023, he will want to prove it again.
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist showed his undeniable qualities in 2022, when he finished the season as the highest-ranked Australian in both singles and doubles and won his first Grand Slam title in doubles, while also playing a major final in singles. In 2023, he will certainly want to take it another step further and confidence will surely help him in doing so.
Before the 2023 season begins, Kyrgios will take part at a couple of exhibition events as first he will appear in Saudi Arabia for the 2022 Diriyah Tennis Cup and then, he will travel to Dubai for the 2022 World Tennis League.
Ahead of the event held in Saudi Arabia, the Australian answered a few questions and one of them was why he thinks he's going to win the event. With a big smile on his face, he answered: "Because I'm the best player in the world."
While some may find his claims as over-confident, they may not be so far from the truth. According to the UTR, special rankings system, Kyrgios is currently the 2nd best player in the world and with good results in his native Australia, he can improve his standings even more.
However, he will be facing a really tough opponent, the 21-time Grand Slam champion and UTR's no. 1, Novak Djokovic. The Serbian stopped Kyrgios from winning his first Grand Slam singles title and he may be standing in his way again at the Australian Open. Before that, they will get a chance to face off once more before the season starts as they are scheduled to meet in Dubai.
