Novak Djokovic doesn't compare his season to other players because he played much less and still feels fresh.
Djokovic was insistent about still remaining fresh going into the season's closing weeks, saying that journalists shouldn't compare his season to other players because he actually missed a lot of it. Djokovic did not play for three months prior to the Laver Cup since he missed the North American hard court stretch.
“My season is different from any [other] so don’t look at my season in comparison to others,“I haven’t played for over three months before Israel so I definitely am fresh physically and mentally motivated to do well.” said Djokovic after beating van de Zandschulp in Astana.
Djokovic won six straight games to close off the second set, which made him very happy about being able to keep the match brief:
"I think my serve worked very well when I needed to get out of trouble in the first set, particularly. There were some 30-30 games and when I broke his serve at 4-2 he had a break point. I came in and he had a look at a passing shot but missed it. The match is decided in these moments."
