Right after his maiden Grand Slam triumph, Carlos Alcaraz travelled to Valencia to help his Davis Cup team in group stages.

However, ins his first match, it was obvious that the Spaniard wasn't ready to give his best after just coming from the United States and not accommodating to the court in Valencia well. In his first match, Carlos Alcaraz lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime and didn't look for any excuses after the match, when he said:

“I didn't arrive at my best. I only had two days to adapt my game to the court, but I wanted to be here representing Spain and share this moment as number one with friends and family and also with the team.”

In his second Davis Cup match and second match as world number 1, the young Spaniard took on Soonwoo Kwon from Korea. Player that defeated Auger-Aliassime a few days ago and showed that he's capable of causing an upset.

But Alcaraz flew into the match. He got an early break and soon he was leading 5-2, looking to end the first set early. However, his opponent started a 7 point streak which took the break advantage away from the home crowd favourite and the first set was close to being decided in a tie-break.

Yet, after Kwon led 40-15 on his serve, Alcaraz managed to win 4 points in a row to take the first set and get a solid grasp of the match. But world number 1 didn't start well in the second set after getting the advantage.

He got broken very early and when he was down 3-4 and was facing another break point, it looked really bad with his chances in the second set. But Alcaraz got the break back, forced a tie-break that he won 7-1 to secure his first victory as world number 1 and also Spain's win over Korea in Davis Cup.
