Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner: 2024 Roland Garros - Preview & Prediction

| by Zachary Wimer

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will play the 'small final' before the real Roland Garros final, as they will meet in the most anticipated semi-final match.

The two youngsters are the two best players in the world right now, and they have been the most impressive players so far at Roland Garros. Sinner has been smashing opponents since the event started, and he has never really found any issues in any of his matches.

Alcaraz has been equally impressive with his play, but his overall performance was also expected because he grew up on clay, and he proved his qualities many times. Sinner didn't play that well last year because the Italian was beaten by Daniel Altmaier early in Paris last year.

Head-to-head:

The two young superstars have played eight times against each other, with the H2H tied at 4-4. It's a rivalry that will carry tennis in the coming decade, and so far, it's delivered. The most recent match was played this year in Indian Wells, and the Spaniard won it.

Sinner won the only match on clay, though, beating Alcaraz in the 2022 Croatia Open final, where the Spaniard won his maiden ATP title previously. Both players are very aggressive, though the two-time major winner seems to be a better natural mover on clay.

He also generally plays with less power compared to Sinner, but he often rips a forehand that opponents can barely see, let alone return, and that's likely to be seen also in this match.

Carlos Alcaraz Jannik Sinner
4 H2H 4
3 Rank 2
21 Age 22
23-5 2024 W/L 33-2
178-48 Career W/L 223-76

Prediction:

It's a close matchup, but as Alcaraz said, the Italian is likely the minor favorite, as he played a bit better this week and generally this year.

Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in four sets.
