Brooksby Undergoes Another Wrist Surgery With No Date Of Return

| by Alfredo Bassanelli

Jenson Brooksby hasn't played tennis since the Australian Open having to undergo two wrist surgeries to fix issues in both of them.

Jenson Brooksby spent much of last year battling wrist injuries that had him play with taped wrists every match. The level he played at was pretty decent despite the injuries which is what prompted him to attempt to do that earlier this year but it didn't work as well.

Ultimately Brooksby opted to undergo surgery on both wrists to fix the issue with the second surgery happening recently. He posted an update on social media explaining what the procedure was about as well as what he expects in the coming weeks.

Hi all, I underwent a successful arthroscopic right wrist surgery this morning to fix my dislocated tendon. Thank you to Dr. Shin and his team @Kerlan Jobe for their care and guidance. My left wrist has been responding well and rehab is going. Surgery on the right wrist was the best route for me to get back on court 100%.

There has been an uptick in wrist issues on the ATP Tour lately with some attributing it to the new balls used which has caused some speculation by players already. Players that dealt with wrist injuries in the past year or so include Dominic Thiem who is yet to get back to his best tennis.

Emma Raducanu recently underwent wrist surgery. Novak Djokovic dealt with wrist injuries last year with Matteo Berrettini also undergoing a wrist surgery in the past year, with Rune dealing with pain in his wrist as well. There has been an uptick in elbow injuries as well which might also be attributed to the balls. When it comes to Brooksby, he has no date of return in mind.

I am excited to return to training and work on improving areas of my game including my serve. I don't have a fixed date for return to competition- we will do everything to put me in the best position to succeed. Thank you for the well wishes and I will be back.
