Holger Rune and Patrick Mouratoglou teamed up for the third time in less than 18 months, and a lot has happened between the two since they first started working together.
It's been a very bizarre year for the young Dane, who had struggled on multiple fronts. While his tennis never quite looked right, the off-court happenings took over the headlines.
He first made headlines by adding Roger Federer's former coach, Severin Luthi, to his team, only for them to part ways after a few weeks. Boris Becker then left his team in a surprise twist that left everyone surprised about what was happening.
Some injury concerns popping up again only added more trouble into the whole mix, and now he's back with Patrick Mouratoglou. It's the third time they've started to work together, which is a really rare situation.
On top of just teaming up and splitting up, the duo also had some harsh words to say the last time they parted ways, making their relationship look rather weird. Now, Mouratoglou cleaned up a bit of air.
"I am excited to start a new collaboration with Holger Rune. We have known each other since he was 13 years old and I always believed in his potential. He has high goals and so do I for him. It is the start of a new adventure. See you guys in Acapulco, Indian Wells and Miami."
One of the fans asked Mouratoglou about Rune's comments when the youngster said that he wasn't doing enough or anything at all, and he simply replied, "Anyone can make a mistake. I forgive," which is cool, but it's also something to keep an eye on.
Whatever the case, Rune played some of the best tennis the first time he partnered up with Mouratoglou. The second stint wasn't that great, but it might have been a bit forced as well.
