19-years-old Carlos Alcaraz will play his second Grand Slam quarterfinal and first at the Roland Garros as he defeated Karen Khachanov in the fourth round.

Both players were coming into the fourth-round clash in Paris in a great form as the Russian previously defeated Nuno Borges, Hugo Dellien and Cameron Norrie while Carlos Alcaraz outplayed Juan Ignacio Londero, Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Sebastian Korda. But Alexander Zverev awaited only one opponent in the quarterfinals and so the two had to settle it on the Court Philippe Chatrier.

It went very well for the young Spaniard since the very start of the match. He managed to win the first 12 out of 14 points and quickly grabbed a 5-0 lead in the first set later on. He didn't hesitate and after 27 minutes, the scoreboard showed 6-1 and players headed into the second set where the Russian definitely wanted to improve his performance.

He certainly did when he hit 7 winners in the second set, but he added 15 unforced errors and similarly to the first set, he didn't have any breakpoints also in the second set as Alcaraz used one of two chances he had and won the set 6-4.

Halfway through the third set, it seemed that Carlos Alcaraz will finish this match without facing a single breakpoint as he led already 3-1. However, the last five games of the match were really intense as fans could see a total of 10 breakpoints. Both players traded their service games a couple of times but eventually the young Spaniard prevailed and won the match 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to set up a quarterfinal clash with Alexander Zverev at the 2022 Roland Garros.
