Tennis legend Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, shared the happy news of their second daughter's birth.
It has been almost 12 months since Williams ended her legendary career. She won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, 14 major women's doubles titles and spent 319 weeks at No. 1 in the rankings.
Williams retired at last year's US Open. It was one of the most emotional moments in tennis history, with the American's home fans giving her an incredible sendoff after everything the 41-year-old did for the sport.
One of Williams' greatest accomplishments was winning the 2017 Australian Open, the opening Grand Slam of the tennis calendar, despite already being pregnant with her first child at the time.
Williams and her husband's first daughter, Olympia, was born in September 2017. Ohanian announced on social media that the couple's second daughter, Adria, had been born, and his wife was healthy and happy after giving birth.
"Welcome, Adira River Ohanian. I'm grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful. Serena Williams you've now given me another incomparable gift — you're the GMOAT. Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter."
When she announced her retirement from tennis last year, the 23-time Grand Slam champion spoke about wanting to grow her family. Thankfully, she has been able to do that without any complications.
Williams' husband also mentioned introducing Olympia to her new baby sister, saying in his announcement of Adria's birth that it was a moment he would remember for the rest of his life.
"I'll never forget the moment I introduced Olympia to her baby sister. "Your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea."
