Serena and Venus Williams get to know their opponents in doubles at US Open

Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams will play for one final time together at the 2022 US Open after entering the US Open doubles draw together.

The Williams sisters are some of the best players in tennis history. The legacy they’ve both created over the past two decades speaks volumes because very few players ever came close to such resumes.

In Serena's case, she’s the best of all time. In Venus' case, she’s arguably one of the best players in recent memory, with her career only not as good as that of Serena because she had to play her at her peak.

Even so, the fact that Venus played and beat Serena during her best days shows just how good of a player she was in her own right. Venus beat Serena five times on the Gran Slam level, including in two finals.

They’ve made history together as well, having teamed up to win 14 Grand Slam doubles trophies and three Olympic Gold medals in doubles. While it’s unlikely that they’ll add to that tally at this year’s US Open, they’re going to try.

They entered the doubles draw for one final dance together on the tennis courts. It’s the final event of Serena’s career, as she announced it earlier this year. They didn’t get the easiest draw because they will have to face the Czech duo of Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova in the first round.

Those are players who are very likely to beat them in the doubles matchup, which would be a shame. Fans are hoping to get at least a couple of matches from the Williams sisters, but winning this one will be tricky.

If they somehow win the match, they will face either Anett Kontaveit and Shelby Rogers or Alexa Guarachi and Andreja Klepac.
