Raducanu Reveals How Alcaraz Inspires Her Wimbledon Performance

| by Zachary Wimer

Emma Raducanu admitted to watching Carlos Alcaraz before her match at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, and she got inspired by his heroics.

The way the schedule was organized at this year's Wimbledon Championships recently had Alcaraz play his match on Centre Court ahead of Raducanu. The Spaniard faced Frances Tiafoe in a very competitive match that went the distance but ultimately saw him win the match in five sets.

Raducanu followed and played an equally good match to take down Maria Sakkari, even though she didn't go the distance as she kept it in two sets. After the match, Brit admitted to the media that she had watched the match between Alcaraz and Tiafoe and that it inspired her.

She was inspired by what the young Spaniard did in the match, coming back from a one-set deficit twice, and according to her own words, it helped her also in her match, as she tried to emulate some of the defending champion's shots.

"Following the Carlos - Tiafoe match. It was such amazing tennis, just very fun to watch, and I think the last couple of matches I've been following Carlos, and it's just good to watch before the match, and I think sometimes in certain moments you try to emulate certain shots or whatever but very far from."

Raducanu went on to say that she watches tennis matches of other players but also watches her own highlights because it helps her with motivation. So far, all of that has worked perfectly this year, but she will want to keep it going also in the second week of the Championships at SW19.

The draw was very favorable for her because she'll face Lulu Sun in the next round. The New Zealander is a tricky player but is far from used to situations like these, as this is her first major breakthrough run.
