Stefanos Tsitsipas shared a nice message to Serena Williams, who will make the last appearance of her legendary career at the US Open.
Tsitsipas has lost in the third round in his previous two appearances at Flushing Meadows. Last year, the Greek No. 1 fell at that stage after an epic five-set battle against the young star Carlos Alcaraz.
He might be ready for a deep run this year, though. Tsitsipas prepared for the year's final Grand Slam by reaching the final of the Cincinnati Open and will try to use that momentum in New York.
Last year's French Open runner-up took time out from his preparations to make a video congratulating Williams before she retires after playing singles and doubles with her sister Venus Williams at the US Open. He also remembered being aced by Serena in a match.
"Hey Serena, I'd like to congratulate you on an amazing career. You're probably the only female player that has aced me in a match so congratulations for that too - wasn't very entertaining for me!"
Tsitsipas highlighted his respect for what Williams has done for tennis, called her a great mother, and joked about her returning to professional tennis as a coach to daughter Olympia.
"But I have lots of respect for (what) you've done for the sport. I'm more than inspired to have shared a fair amount of time with you on the tour. Good luck on the next chapter, and make sure to return back with Olympia as her coach one day."
"And obviously the most important thing - you're a great mother, I've been seeing that over the last couple of years. Stay happy and enjoy your moments off tour."
The respect for Williams is wide across ATP and WTA players. Reilly Opelka called her the greatest player ever and her sister Venus the second-best in tennis history.
