Karolina Pliskova is ending her 2023 season prematurely due to an injury which she revealed on her Instagram profile.
Karolina Pliskova has had a strange season so far, certainly not her best, but her health didn't really cooperate either. She's only managed 41 matches so far this year, posting a 22-19 record, which is solid for the Czech player but nothing special.
She's dealt with a few injuries already and now called time on her season due to another injury which can be troublesome. It's the wrist again, and it's not the first time she's had trouble with that injury, and there is reason she's going to miss the rest of this year. It takes time to heal. She provided an update on Instagram explaining everything to fans.
Hey everyone! I wanted to share some news with you all. Due to an injury to my left wrist, I've made the tough decision to end my season earlier than planned. It's never easy to step away from the game, but I believe it's the right decision to focus on my health and come back stronger next season.
Thank you for all your support and well wishes. I'll be working hard to get back in top form, and I can't wait to see you all on the court next year!
It's been quite an eventful season for Pliskova, who showed frustration more than once this year. She was pictured hitting the umpire's chair again after a bad stretch of results, and her coach, Sascha Bajin, also paid the price.
They were working together this year, but she opted to go in a different direction, splitting up with the coach once more. We'll see what happens next year when Pliskova returns, but it does seem like her best days are long gone.
