Elina Svitolina withdraws from the 2022 Roland Garros

Elina Svitolina has been out for the majority of 2022 because to a back ailment, and she will be out for the rest of May as well as she withdrew from the 2022 Roland Garros.

She went 5-8 while playing with the injury earlier this year, which is far below her usual level of performance. From 2017 to 2020, the seasoned Ukrainian was a consistent member of the Top 10. After a spate of bad results, Svitolina declared her break from tennis early this season. Given the events in her home nation of Ukraine, her decision was not unexpected. Svitolina's hometown of Odessa has been the subject of recent combat activities, putting her under even more emotional hardship.

She stated a back issue that has been bothering her for a time, and given the complexities of such types of injuries, rest is usually the best option. Svitolina did not indicate when she will return, but her decision to leave Rome was difficult. Since her debut in Rome in 2014, she has never missed a game in Madrid.

She is a two-time champion, having won in 2017 and 2018. She reached the quarterfinals the last two times she competed. Now we also know, that Elina Svitolina will not compete in the 2022 Roland Garros after missing the Madrid Open and Italian Open.
