Bouchard To Join Nadal & Alcaraz In Playing 'The Netflix Slam' In Las Vegas

Eugenie Bouchard is set to join the star-studded field for upcoming exhibition, which will be telecasted on Netflix and dubbed "The Netflix Slam."

This live event will be hosted by MGM Resorts International in spring at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas with two special tennis matches. Both matches will take place on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024.

The first match is an absolute blockbuster and was announced late last year. It will assemble two of the greatest Spanish tennis players on the ATP Tour. 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal will meet compatriot and a man who has been touted as his successor, Carlos Alcaraz.

The pair will square off in the only singles match at the event and have shared their delight at partaking in this occasion. Tournament organizers will be sweating at Nadal's fitness distress after the 37-year-old pulled out from the 2024 Australian Open with a muscle injury to his hip.

The injury is unrelated to Nadal's previous setback, where he tore his psoas muscle at last year's Melbourne Slam and ended up on the treatment shelf for nearly the entire year. Having made his return in Brisbane in the first week of January, his comeback lasted just three matches.

Nadal has not issued an update on when he intends to return to the courts. He has since jetted to Spain to begin treatment and is reportedly targeting to play at the Qatar Open in February.

Additionally, the Netflix Slam will also feature a mixed doubles match pitting former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard, who will join forces with Mike Bryan to face the team of Asia Muhammad and Bob Bryan.

Bouchard had elected to become a pickleball pro in 2024, but it was a real baptism by fire in her first outing playing the paddle sport. The Canadian has not formally retired from tennis and is slated to play Caroline Wozniacki in an exhibition match on the weekend before main draw action commences at the Dallas Open in early February.
