Bianca Andreescu is back to training as she was seen on the practice court during Canada's Billie Jean King Cup tie against Belgium.
Following a harrowing ankle injury at the 2023 Miami Open, Andreescu has made a return to the practice courts. The World No. 27, had been on a winning streak, claiming victories over Emma Raducanu, Maria Sakkari, and Sofia Kenin before her painful encounter with Russia's Ekaterina Alexandrova.
In a blink of an eye, Andreescu's soaring momentum was halted when she rolled her left ankle during the second set, leading to a tearful exit in a wheelchair. The 2019 US Open champion later disclosed that she had torn two ligaments in her ankle, labeling it as "the worst pain I've ever felt."
Undaunted by the setback, Andreescu resolved to focus on her rehabilitation with an unwavering determination to return stronger than ever. Initially scheduled to represent Team Canada in the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers against Team Belgium, Andreescu's injury forced her to relinquish her spot to fellow Canadian, Katherine Sebov.
Nevertheless, the Mississauga native was not one to be sidelined for long. She traveled with her team to the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver to provide support and encouragement to her teammates, seizing the opportunity to step back onto the practice court.
She also shared a quick message with her fans as they were able to see her cheering on her teammates, and made sure to announce that she will be there also on Saturday as Team Canada will need her support and experience.
"Hey guys, it was so good to be here today to cheer on my girls. It felt like I was on the court with them, they worked so hard and I'm very excited to say that I will be back tomorrow and I will be taking over Tennis Canada's Instagram stories."
