Aryna Sabalenka provided an update on her leg injury at the 2023 Miami Open.

Sabalenka cruised to a straight sets victory over Marie Bouzkova in the third round on Monday. However, the Belarusian player was troubled by a leg injury in her second-round clash against Shelby Rogers and required medical intervention to get through the two-set match.

But, after her victory over Bouzkova, Sabalenka said she was feeling fine and trusted her team to keep her on track for success at the Miami Open.

“I have a few exercises that I have to do during the match to control this muscle, but my team did everything so that I don’t focus on my leg and I focus on my game.”

In addition, the 24-year-old explained that she had complete faith in her team to get ready for the upcoming last 16 encounter against Barbora Krejcikova.

“We are working on that. I would say I have the best team and I really trust them and believe that they can fix it. It definitely felt much better.”

Sabalenka has beaten Krejcikova four times in their previous five meetings and the Belarusian player explained how she plans to approach the upcoming match.

"I think if you give her some time she can put the ball wherever she wants to. It’s tough. So you have to put a lot of pressure on her. You have to be really aggressive on court and not give her too much time and make her really work for it. She’s a great player and it’s always tough battles against her.”

Earlier in March, Sabalenka reached the Indian Wells final but lost the final to Elena Rybakina. The world number two is hoping to improve on a second-round exit in the 2022 Miami Open after she lost against Irina-Camelia Begu.
