Pegula's US Open Outfit To Commemorate 50 Years Since Famous Battle Of Sexes

One of the world's leading sportswear brands, Adidas, unveiled its newest clothing and footwear collection that tennis players such as Jessica Pegula will don at this year's US Open.

Adidas launched its new line called FW23 New York Collection in honor of one of the women's tennis trailblazers Billie Jean King and to commemorate 50 years since she won the Battle of the Sexes to herald a new era of women's tennis in their fight for equal recognition and opportunities in the sporting landscape.

The Collection introduces an SST Jacket for both men and women and a women's specific Avacourt shoe in a striking bold blue color reminiscent of what King wore as her signature Adidas sneakers five decades ago. Other notable pieces of outfits include matching skirts and dresses for women, rights, polo t-shirts, and shorts.

"Tennis history shows that greatness is never defined by gender. It hasn’t always been easy to choose this path – players like Billie Jean King had to fight for the right to be on the same court as men and gain respect from fellow players. I’m proud to be an advocate for gender equality in sport – both on and off the court."

Adidas says that the Avacourt, which was originally launched in 2022, 'is created and engineered to best support women when playing tennis' and features improved torsion and use of softer materials.

Some of the players endorsing Adidas and who will don the new collection in a week's time include Xinyu Wang, Dana Mathewson, Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari, Elina Svitolina, Karolína Muchová, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Martin de la Puente.

This new apparel is currently on sale in Adidas' online store and via the Adidas mobile app. Details of pricing and sizes are all under the description tab for each item.
