| by Zachary Wimer

In 2023 a new event appears in the WTA calendar and it's the ATX Open, which is held in Austin from February 27th through March 5th.

After previously organizing the WTA Finals last year, the ATX Open attempted to get a spot in the regular season calendar, and the organizers succeeded in doing so. Moreover, they also succeeded in inviting a very interesting field of players for their inaugural event as the entry list features also Grand Slam champions.

“We have been working hard to prepare for our tournament to take place in week nine of the season, but now seeing the ATX Open formally on the WTA calendar alongside all the other great events around the world makes it feel even more official.”

The highest-ranked player on the entry list is Magda Linette from Poland, who reached the semifinals at the 2023 Australian Open. She will be joined by the likes of Shuai Zhang, Anhelina Kalinina, and Anastasia Potapova, but also players that already competed in a major final before will travel to Austin.

The 2017 US Open champion, Sloane Stephens, the 2021 US Open champion, Emma Raducanu, and the 2022 Australian Open finalist, Sloane Stephens will all make an appearance at the 2023 ATX Open in Austin. The entry list includes many more interesting names so be sure to check it out below.
