Rafael Nadal showed once again how well he can fight back when he's losing in important matches and beat Fabio Fognini in 4 sets at the 2022 US Open.

In the second round of the 2022 US Open, Rafael Nadal was already 2-6, 2-4 down against Fabio Fognini. However, the Spaniard fought back and eventually won 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 in two hours and 38 minutes to set up a third-round clash with Richard Gasquet.

The match featured also a very unlucky moment when the 22-time Grand Slam champion hit himself with a racquet and started bleeding. It was nose of the Spaniard that was impacted the most and he needed a help from a doctor. After the match, he commented on what happened:

"[It] was just a strong hit. At the beginning I thought I [broke] the nose because it was a shock at the beginning. Was very painful. I lost little bit the... feeling of my head. It's about being a little bit out of the world," Nadal said.

"I don't know, seems like it's not [broken]. I am not sure yet. I don't know. I think it's getting bigger and bigger. That's just a shock some way I deserved to play that bad for a while. No, it's [a joke]. [These are] things that happen sometimes."
