Alexander Bublik got called for a foot fault at the 2022 Newport Open during his match against Andy Murray, and he took his anger out on the line judge.
Despite being capable of some magical tennis at times, the talented Kazakhstani player is certainly able to bring some more shocking scenes on a tennis court. Whether it be underarm serves or outbursts of anger, the man from Kazakhstan certainly has a reputation for it.
His latest match at the Newport Open was no different, with him committing a foot fault before letting loose on the line judge who called him for it.
During his match-up with Scot Andy Murray, Bublik was adjudged to have illegally crossed the baseline with his right foot before serving.
With the match poised at a key score in the second set, the Kazakhstani player let his emotions get the better of him and soon lashed out verbally at the person who had reported the foot fault.
Speaking to the chair umpire of the match and line judge in the same interaction, Bublik said the following:
"Excuse me, he's telling me that I made a foot fault with the right leg. How can that possibly be? Do you want me to serve like this? Are you a tennis player? How can it possibly be, if you tell me it is the left leg, I am totally fine with it, but how can it possibly be that I serve like this."
Fergus Murphy was the chair umpire, and he tried to interfere a bit, but he was quickly shut down by Bublik, who said he didn't want to talk to the match umpire.
In the end, the match continued without any major incident, but it was again a moment that showed that Bublik isn't afraid to speak his mind.
