Tsitsipas Critical of Netflix's 'Drama & Gossip' When Portraying Feud With Kyrgios

Stefanos Tsitsipas has tried to ease the feud shown between himself and Nick Kyrgios in the upcoming Break Point documentary.

An ongoing rivalry seemingly developed between Tsitsipas and Kyrgios over the last year, with the Greek player explaining that the Australian caused damage to their relationship. One of the most infamous clashes between the pair occurred during a third-round match at the 2022 Wimbledon when the players exchanged words across the net throughout the match.

The bout features heavily in the second season of Netflix's documentary Break Point and the first two episodes largely centre on Kyrgios' run to the 2022 Wimbledon final. When speaking to Eurosport about the documentary episodes, Tsitsipas explained that he is still hurt by how the match unfolded, but he admitted he learned a lot from the experience.

"If that's the case, then that's the way it is. I had behavior issues in this match. I wasn't used to such things before, I don't mind if the episode comes out and the wound sort of opens up again.”

Tsitsipas told Eurosport

“How I dealt with that in the match was totally immature. He got into my head, which other players don't really get. But I understood that and am aware that such things can happen again in the future. I know how to deal with it. That's good.”

Although, the world number five took some issue with the way Break Point portrayed the rivalry between himself and Kyrgios. Tsitsipas feels the documentary is looking for dramatic occurrences, rather than perhaps showing the true story between the two players.

"I'm not a big fan of the whole production. They could have done a significantly better job, to be honest. I'm a bit disappointed there. What we get here has more to do with gossip and soap opera. That doesn't belong there in my opinion,”

"It just feels more like a reality TV show, But they like the drama, they want the drama, so let them do it. We gave them permission, they are in full control. And we learn from our mistakes, I think,”
