Novak Djokovic was always known as a pretty strong tie-breaker player, and he's also dominated the ATP Tour in that stat this year.
Djokovic once famously explained his level-headedness in tight matches by asserting full belief in his tie-break prowess. He basically said that he knew he'd win if the match went to a tiebreak. So strong was his belief that he'd outplay his opponents, and it didn't matter if it was Roger Federer or some other player.
That still rings true even after so many years, as Djokovic is the most successful player when it comes to tiebreaks on Tour. So far this year, the Serbian has won 26 tiebreaks, which is the most on Tour among all the top players. He leads ahead of Hubert Hurkacz, who has 24, and Eubanks, Tiafoe and Tsitsipas, who have 19.
He also lost the fewest tiebreaks among the top players with only 5 lost this year. That's far better than some others like Hurkacz, who lost 22, or Tstipas, who lost 16 of them. The best besides Djokovic in that regard are actually Holger Rune and Carlos Alcaraz, who both lost 8 so far this year.
Combining those stats into one to get the tiebreak winning percentage, we got 83 %. Djokovic played 31 overall and won 26 which is 83 %, by far the best mark among all the top players once more. Alcaraz, for example, won 17 of 25 played, which is 68 %, still pretty good.
Holger Rune is slightly better, having won 18 of 26, which is 69 %. None of them are close to Djokovic, proving just how far ahead of the competition he is when the pressure is highest. Him winning three Grand Slams this year serves as another reminder of how well he performs when it matters most.
